Gender Inclusive Schools provides parent and educator training to proactively create safe learning environments for LGBTQ+ young people. We specialize in facilitating full-staff professional development sessions on a variety of equity topics, providing small group consultations, collaborating on support for individual students, and school-board policy development. During the 2023/2024 school year, Gender Inclusive Schools supported educators in over 75 different school communities across the United States, Canada, the UK, and Australia. Faculty/Staff Large Group Workshops. Whole-Staff PD provides an opportunity to increase staff fluency and capacity to discuss LGBTQ+ topics and definition of terms, identify high-impact strategies to address gender-based bias in school communities, and respond to challenging questions about sexual orientation and gender identity in the context of K-12 education. Custom presentations tailored to individual school communities available with a minimum of 2-weeks notice.
Consulting Services. Grade-level, departmental, and administrative-specific meetings for groups from 1-10 participants. Past consultations have focused on policy development, support for student Gender and Sexuality Alliances, student social transition planning, repairing harm in school communities, and curriculum/lesson planning. Whether working directly with grade level teams on specific projects, offering perspective on instructional practices through observations, or helping parent affinity groups deliver feedback to school leaders, we love building multi-year partnerships based on mutual respect and student-centered goals! Parent/Caregiver Sessions. Interactive sessions with parents/caregivers focusing on increasing collaboration and communication around educating prek-12th grade students on LGBTQ+ topics. Topics include “LGBTQ+ Family Allyship” and “Understanding Gender Identity Development in Young Children”.
